Who we are
-
As our community has grown, our aim remains the same - to provide inclusive, supportive, friendly classes for adults no matter what experience you have.
We champion women supporting women, body positivity, and self-confidence through doing something you love with the best group you could ask for.

SJ Dance started with just 3 adults taking a Jazz class once a week, back in 2015. The classes soon grew, and SJD added Tap and Ballet to the schedule.
The company took off after Sammy choreographed for The Walt Disney Company's entry into the London LGBT Pride Parade. SJ Dancers and employees of The Walt Disney Company performed a repeating sequence of 8 different routines, leading the 250+ strong Disney team through the streets of London for many hours! This was such a proud and unforgettable moment for all involved!
Since then, we have hosted the SJ Dance Showcase at the POSK Theatre in Hammersmith every year. This unique opportunity sees our dancers and singers take to the stage to perform group numbers, solos and duets to a packed out audience.
In 2019, we began taking the group away on performance trips, and the whole group looks forward to them every year. Not only is it a chance to dance in some amazing venues, but it’s always the most fun getting to know people better and being surrounded by like minded people.
Our performance trips have taken us to Disneyland Paris multiple times, where we perform at the heart of the magic.
We had our West-End debut at The Shaftesbury Theatre in the heart of London's theatre district. Such an incredible opportunity!
The following year, we headed to Blackpool to dance in the famous Tower Ballroom. One of our favourite ever performances!
Most recently, we have performed at Alton Towers and spent a fun weekend away together!

SJ Dance was formed by Sammy Dunn over 10 years ago. Sammy is a qualified teacher and full member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to every class. Sammy is the lead teacher and choreographer. Alongside her, she has Sian Bradbury-Flint and Gina Ackroyd who assist with rehearsals and behind the scenes admin. They both have extensive experience in the performing arts world and provide support to all the dancers. Finally on the team is Amelia Thornley who runs our social programme. Amelia organises at least one social per month, from theatre trips to nights out and more.
